A linearized thermodynamic Green's functional analysis has been made to obtain the magnetization of impurity ions in s‐band host metals. Fermi contact type antiferromagnetic coupling between the impurity spin and the conduction electron spin leads to a sudden discontinuous jump in the impurity magnetization as a function of temperature. The impurity magnetization also shows extremum properties for a parameter χ less than 1.2. In the case of ferromagnetic coupling the impurity magnetization is a monotonous function of temperature.
