A theory of the screw instability in a three‐component electron‐hole plasma of semiconductors in a weak magnetic field is formulated. At these conditions the screw instability has two modifications (monopolar and bipolar modes). The role of intervalley (interband) scattering in developing of the monopolar screw instability is estimated. It is supposed that the observation of the latter is possible in GaSb. The results of numerical calculations of threshold electric fields and oscillation frequencies are given for both modes of the screw instability in p‐ and n‐GaSb.
