The tetrahedral network of the xenon hydrate structure exhibits bond distortions and five‐atom rings. Hence, this clathrate network is a simple model of amorphous Ge which is presumed to contain these structural elements. The radial distribution function and electronic density of states, using a tight‐binding Hamiltonian, are calculated for this model and are found to have many similarities with those of amorphous Ge.
