In the low concentration limit of mass defects, the Raman spectrum is examined in the polariton region, i.e., in the small momentum transfer region. Expressions for the lifetime broadening and the frequency shift of the polariton peak are derived and the impurity‐induced continuous spectrum is also discussed. Calculations made so far for the localized mode polariton are improved in several respects. It is also shown that the electro‐optical coefficient derived from the PA type of the electron‐polariton interaction has only a apparent ω‐dependence to be eliminated in getting the proper Raman intensity.
