A neutron diffraction study has been made of powdered NdS samples at 4.2, 27, and 293 °K. A noncollinear magnetic structure with two propagation vectors has been revealed. All spins lying in a {110} plane are collinear and arranged antiferromagnetically. From plane to plane the spin direction rotates by a right angle. The possible and really observed spin configurations are discussed within the, framework of the molecular field method.
