A technique is described for evaluating the indirect exchange parameter | J (0)| for two‐sublattice antiferromagnets. The method relates the RKKY model, incorporating the freeelectron approximation, to the nearest and next‐nearest neighbor interaction constants of the molecular field model. Application of the technique to DyIn 3 yielded values of | J (0)| equal to 0.17 and 0.03 eV for k F / k   F 0equal to 0.98 and 0.86, respectively.
