The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of four samples of pure silver was measured between 1.4 and 4.2 °K. The variation of resistance could not be satisfactorily represented by the Bloch T 5 law. The resistances of the three purest samples were best described by an equation R = A T 3 + B T 5 . According to calculations by Dworin a T 3 term may be attributed to the effects of phonon drag. On the other hand the resistivity of the fourth samples which contained 3 ppm of magnetic impurities (about ten times that of the other samples) behaved differently, indicating the influence of Kondo scattering.
