The Zeeman effect of the first exciton in KI and RbI has been measured by a technique which senses the magneto‐reflectance dichroism. The analysis indicates an excited‐state g ‐factor of about 0.9. This result cannot be interpreted in terms of either a Wannier or Frenkel model.
