It is proved that the conductivity in a s‐type band exhibits free acceleration behaviour even in the case of strong electronic correlations. A possible metal–insulator transition can occur as a jump in the mean effective mass and can be calculated from the knowledge of a one particle Green's function. The plasma waves are identified to be the soft modes driving the metal‐insulator transition.
