Transverse and longitudinal Nernst effects have been measured over the temperature range 1 to 80°K. Acoustical and optical phonons are confirmed as the main scattering mechanisms at liquid air temperatures. At low temperatures neither ionised nor neutral impurity scattering provide an explanation of the measurements. The results are tentatively explained in terms of localised spin scattering.
