Mössbauer spectra of 57 Fe in Fe 1− x Co x Si and Fe 1− x Ni x Si have been investigated as a function of composition and temperature. Substitution of Fe by Co and Ni increases the isomer shift throughout the temperature range studied. Composition dependence of the quadrupole splitting correlates reasonably well with similar dependences specific to other physical characteristics of these alloys. Rise of temperature is accompanied by a decrease of quadrupole splitting in the range of temperatures involved. The results of the study are used to discuss the type of energy band.
