Far infrared reflectivity of Cdas 2 bulk crystals in polarized light has been measured at room and liquid‐nitrogen temperature in the 30 to 400 cm −1 frequency range. It is shown that the model of classical non‐interacting oscillators represents the experimental curves adequately. The results are in agreement with the group‐theoretical analysis of the zonecentre lattice modes. Parameters of the best‐fit oscillators, longitudinal‐mode frequencies, and real and imaginary parts of the corresponding dielectric‐function tensor are given. The influence of the free‐carrier effects on the optical properties investigated is shown to be negligible.
