Abstract The theory presented in Part I [1] for the Raman scattering efficiency of polaritons in uniaxial piezoelectric crystals is used to interpret experiments on the dependence of the scattered intensities on the direction of the polariton wave vector k p . The measurements have been performed with BeSO 4 · 4 H 2 O in the v 3 ‐region of the SO 4 −ions at 1100 cm −1 for the limit ( k p ≫ ω p / c ). k p is rotated in the ( x , y ) and ( x , z ) planes, and a good agreement between theory and experiment is obtained. The contributions of the defromation potential and the macroscopic electric field to the scattering efficiency are determined in relative units as a function of the direction of k .
