Faraday rotation spectra have been measured in the exciton absorption region on evaporated films of cuprous halides including CuCI, CuBr, CuI, and CuBr‐CuCl mixed crystals. From an analysis of the observed spectra, the exciton effective g ‐ values are estimated and compared with a theory which takes account of the Zeeman, exchange, and spin‐orbit energies for the IS exciton states. Effects of the hybridization of the Cu 3d and halogen p orbitals in the valence bands in cuprous halides are quantitatively investigated.
