The spin and optical (electronic) excitations of an antiferrodielectric (AFD) are considered within the framcwork of the exciton model. The most general case of a noncollinear orientation of the AFD sublattice spins is invcstigated. Similarities and differences of the exciton and Heisenberg models of the AFD spin excitations arc shown and expressions are derived for the interaction energy of the electronic and spin excitations of AFD.
