Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) measurements at liquid helium temperature are reported for several resolved f–f vibronic lines of U 4+ centres in Cs 2 ZrCl 6 . Though these lines are too broad for Zeeman measurements, both the signs and magnitudes of the g ‐values are determined from the MCD data using first‐order theory. Some assignments are also suggested on the basis of these data.
