Abstract Paramagnetic resonance of trivalent ytterbium and neodymium in single crystals of yttrium phosophate has been investigate at K‐band frequencies and temperatures of 1.7 and 4.2 K. Spin‐Hamiltonian parameters including the hyperfine constants for Yb 171 and Yb 173 and the ground state eigenfunctions were determined.
