The effective temperature of conduction electrons, T e , and the parameter β in a thin film of a non‐degenerate semiconductor are calculated taking the quantization of the transverse motion of the electrons into account. These quantities are calculated for mixed scattering by acoustic modes inside the thin film and by surface lattice vibrations.
