The method of double time Green's functions is used to show that two almost magnetic impurities in a non‐magnetic conductor could under certain circumstances stimulate one another to become magnetic. Although the theory allows the formation of both parallel and antiparallel moments on the impurities, it predicts that no moments are induced when the separation of the impurities is most favourable for antiparallel alignment, and that either parallel or antiparallel moments may be induced when the separation is most favourable for parallel alignment.
