A Mollwo‐Ivey type relation has been obtained empirically, which predicts the absorption bands for thallium (Tl + ) in different alkali halide crystals. The values of the exponent n and constant K (in Mollwo‐Ivey relation i.e. E F = K R n ) depend upon the ionic radii of the host and the impurity ions.
