A surface scattering model that makes allowance for nearly specular reflexion of shallow magnetic surface states and diffuse scattering of deep‐lying surface states is used to calculate the low‐field magnetoconductivity of metals in the random‐phase approximation. The conductivity is separated into the resonant part due to shallow surface states and the nonresonant contribution of the other electrons. For the former a new summed expression is derived whereas the latter is shown to be equal to the conductivity of the anomalous skin effect in case of diffuse surface scattering. The Fourier cosine transform is calculated using asymptotic methods.
