Analysis of light emission spectra obtained by cathodoluminescence shows a phonon‐assisted process. In order to determine the nature of the participating phonon, light scattering experiments are presented. The results show clearly that the phonon participating in the radiative recombination in ZnS:Mn is a resonant impurity breathing mode whose frequency is 297 cm −1 .
