Electron spin resonance measurements are made on a single crystal of Ba(NO 3 ) 2 which has been X‐irradiated at 90 °K. The NO 3 2− ‐spectrum, with a hyperfine structure arising from a single nitrogen nucleus, is observed at 90 °K. The directions of the principal axes of the g ‐tensors and hyperfine tensors and their eigenvalues are determined. The partially resolved super‐hyperfine structure assigned to an interaction with three Ba nuclei is also observed and compared with the super‐hyperfine structure of the NO 3 2− ‐spectrum in Pb(NO 3 ) 2 .
