An analytic study of the spectral problem for finite size one‐layer graphene sheets is presented. The solutions of the derived earlier transcendental eigenvalue equation is thoroughly examined and their highly accurate approximations are obtained. The accuracy of the approximations is illustrated by the comparison of approximate and exact results. The range of use of the proposed approach covers graphene, its daughter structures such as zigzag and armchair nanoribbons, and also real polyenes.
