Abstract Recent studies aimed at modification and destruction of metal nanoparticles via laser pulse and DC electric field treatment require careful analyses of charge and field instability of metal nanoparticles. Though the stability bounds of liquid drops are known well, the stability conditions of rigid nanoparticle surrounded by elastic media are still not clear. In this work we have revealed the boundaries of charge and electric field stability for rigid nanoparticles.Charge‐field stability bounds of silver nanoparticle embedded in glass.
