This Festschrift is dedicated to Professor Manfred Fähnle, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (Stuttgart) who celebrated his 60th anniversary earlier this year. The special issue presents a selection of articles guest‐edited by Helmut Kronmüller, Alfred Seeger, Gisela Schütz, and Hans‐Rainer Trebin. The covered topics range from electron theory of spin‐ordered materials to crystal lattice defects, vortices and magnetism dynamics, and to advanced materials and micromagnetism. A total of 24 articles includes both, original results as well as Feature Articles that are meant to give an overview on highly topical subjects.
