A simple analytical model is presented in order to describe the magnetocaloric effect in an ensemble of magnetic nanoparticles. We confine our considerations to the case of a low concentration of nanoparticles, i.e. when the dipolar interaction among the particles can be neglected. The description of the behaviour of the nanoparticles is based on the Oguchi approach to the relaxation equation, which constitutes an alternative way of the description of magnetization and entropy change for the ensemble of weakly interacting nanoparticles.
