The effect of an electric field on the polaron properties in GaAs and CdSe quantum‐well wires embedded in a polar matrix are studied theoretically. By using the Lee, Low, and Pines (LLP) variational method, the analytical expressions for the quasi‐one‐dimensional Fröhlich polaron self‐energy (PSA), effective mass (PEM), and mean number of virtual phonons are obtained as functions of the wire sizes and the strength of the electric field applied along the growth direction.
