This issue's back cover illustration refers to the article by Pablo Etchegoin et al. (pp. 1125–1132) giving a detailed analysis of the Raman spectra of natural and isotopically substituted lead sulfide (PbS). PbS is an important semiconductor that has found technological applications for over a century. Raman scattering in isotopically substituted PbS reveals details of the phonon band structure and anharmonic interactions. For the quantitative interpretation of the spectra the authors performed ab‐initio calculations of phonon dispersion relations and the corresponding densities of two‐phonon states.
