An approximate analytical technique for the Schrödinger equation solution for quantum‐well donor impurity states is proposed. The binding energy and wavefunction expressions obtained are analogues to the 2D hydrogen atom formulas. Calculations made using these expressions are in agreement with those performed by other methods. The impurity scattering cross section is obtained and studied. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
