(b) 241 , 974, 2873 (2004).Michael Shur, Troy Michael Shur received his M. S. E. E. (engineer) degree (with honors) from St. Petersburg Electrotechnical Institute (LETI) and the Ph. D. in Physics and Doctor of Science degrees from A. F. Ioffe Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia. He is now Patricia W. and C. Sheldon Roberts'48 Professor of Solid State Electronics, Professor of Physics, and Director of the Center for Broadband Data Transport Science and Technology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA. Dr. Shur is a Fellow of IEEE, of the American Physical Society, of the Electrochemical Society as well as a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, SPIE, MRS, and AAAS. He serves as Vice‐President of the IEEE Sensor Council for publications and as Editor‐in‐Chief of the International Journal of High Speed Electronics and Systems and of the book series “Special Topics in Electronics and Systems”. His areas of expertise are physics of semiconductors and semiconductor devices. Michael Shur has been Regional Editor of physica status solidi and member of the Editorial Board of physica status solidi (a) since January 2005.
