The cover picture of this issue is a scanning tunneling microscopy image of the furrowed W(112) surface. A number of unusual phase transitions can be observed in adlayers on such surfaces, mediated by the surface electronic structure. The electronic structure of the corrugated surface of W(112) is detailed in [1].
