A new scheme for third harmonic generation is proposed, where periodic structures with simultaneous linear and nonlinear modulation are employed. In the quasi‐phase‐matching conditions, the coupling equations are presented and analyzed, and efficient third harmonic generation can be achieved. The results suggest the availability of periodic structures in realizing multiple frequency conversion processes. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
