We report on a new approach for preparing single pairs of quantum dots with controllable interdot coupling. Starting from a double quantum well heterostructure, a selective intermixing technique was applied to define pairs of vertically stacked single quantum dots. The incorporation of Mn 2+ ions in only one of the dots results in strongly different effective g ‐factors of the dots, enabling us to control the interdot coupling simply by applying an external magnetic field.
