We present the results of self‐consistent spin‐polarised TB‐LMTO band structure calculations of Fe 3 Al substituted by chromium. An influence of the local environment on the distribution of hyperfine magnetic fields is discussed. All the nearest neighbours atomic configurations corresponding to the observed sextets contributing to the Mössbauer spectra are analysed. Substitution of chromium atom in the nearest neighbourhood cause the strong fall of hyperfine field.
