The coherent and incoherent neutron scattering cross‐sections have different dependences on the polarization of neutrons and target. This fact can be used to separate the coherent and incoherent part of the inelastic cross‐section and to enhance the otherwise very weak coherent scattering in the cases of H 1 and V 51 . Some details of this method are studied and the results are applied to the case of ZrH 2 . It seems evident that the dispersion curves of phonons in ZrH 2 can be measured by this method.
