The influence of phonon nonequilibrium on photoelectric and photomagnetic phenomena at low temperatures ( T ⪅ 20° K) has been studied. It is shown that the effects essentially depend on the sample dimensions and that in thick samples they are determined by phonon‐phonon collisions. Non‐stationary photoconductivity under the conditions of electron heating has been investigated. The time dependence of photoconductivity is then characterized by two different decay times: the time necessary for the transition to a stationary electron temperature and the usual electron lifetime.
