Infra‐red cyclotron resonance has been used to obtain the transverse effective mass of holes in Pb 0.82 Sn 0.18 Te, using fields approaching 10 5 G the value obtained being m   v t= 0.0144 m 0 at 4.2 °K. Combined with interband magneto‐absorption results this gives essentially the same value for the conduction band mass.
