Results of the study of γ‐FeOOH structure by means of neutron diffraction and Mössbauer effect are discussed. The positions of the ions are determined. The hydrogen ion occupies a central position between two oxygen ions separated from one another by 2.70 Å. The Néel temperature determined from magnetic susceptibility is 50 °K. A model of antiferromagnetic ordering of the magnetic moments is suggested.
