A dynamical theory for the intensity relation of Laue case X‐ray reflections in the presence of nearly monochromatic lattice vibrations is developed. The results are compared with intensities diffracted from vibrating cadmium sulphide crystals excited by the acousto‐electric effect. A good agreement is obtained so that a useful method can be proposed for the measurement of vibration amplitudes.
