The direct effect of the electric field on the electron plasma dispersion relation in semiconductors with simple parabolic band model is investigated by the kinetic method. A model distribution function has been invoked which takes into account the fluctuation in density and momentum of electrons. The possibility of amplification or attenuation of the plasma excitation is discussed.
