The influence of nonlocality of the Heine‐Abarenkov model potential on phonon spectra is investigated. A simple approximation for the nonlocality is used to evaluate this influence. Calculations are carried out for the h.c.p.‐metals. It is shown that the usual local approximation of the potential is not valid for calculations of the phonon spectra.
