From 50 to 300 °K the jump rates of H and D in the β‐phase of Pd are described by the sum of two thermally activated processes. At higher temperatures the activation energy is found to be 2500 °K, whereas at low temperatures values of 1750 and 1450 °K for H and D, respectively, are obtained. The results are explained by tunneling from activated states.
