Annealed, neutron‐irradiated, and neutron‐irradiated and subsequently annealed platinum has been investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy. In as‐annealed platinum black dots were observed; these defects occurred only near the foil surfaces and were similar to the polishing defects in copper [8]. Frank dislocation loops, prismatic dislocation loops, and voids were found in neutron‐irradiated foils. After annealing for 1 h at 543 °K the same defect types were observed, however, the contrasts of the defects were stronger. The results are compared with those of other authors.
