The heat capacity of solid tetrafluoromethane has been measured in the temperature range 2 to 20 °K. The analysis of the results of this paper and literature data on the heat capacity allow to make conclusions about the character of the heat motion of the molecules in crystalline CF 4 . An “extra” heat capacity of CF 4 near the phase transformation temperature T λ = 76.09 °K is due to orientational disordering. The temperature dependence of the “extra” heat capacity Δ C or is well described by the logarithmic function Δ C or ∼ lg ∼|– T | T λ|.
