A study is made of the temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity in Ag 2 Se and Ag 2 Te in the temperature range from room temperature to the melting point. On the basis of measurements of electric and physical properties an analysis is made of the heat transfer mechanism of these compounds. It has been found that the thermal conductivity in Ag 2 Se is determined by a phononic and an electronic component and that of Ag 2 Te by a phononic, an electronic, and a photonic component.
