An investigation is made of the temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity of GeTe and SnTe alloys in the homogeneous region. The phonon component of the thermal conductivity has been determined and the dependence on the tellurium content has been analysed in terms of a theory describing the influence of spot defects upon the thermal resistance of the lattice. Good agreement between experimental and theoretical isotherms of phonon heat transfer has been obtained.
