It has been shown in a previous paper the excitonic optical absorption spectra in GaSe at high magnetic fields can be explained on the basis of a theory developed by Elliott and Loudon. In the present paper this theory is generalized by including the effects of dielectric anisotropy and non‐spherical bands. As can be expected in view of the layer‐structure of GaSe the treatment yields a considerable improvement in fitting the experimental data, especially those of the so‐called satellite lines of the exciton absorption spectrum above 30 kG.
