Abstract An oscillatory character of the photoconductivity in Ge in the presence of an external magnetic field was observed. The measurements were carried out at liquid nitrogen temperature using magnetic fields up to 26.5 kG. A number of oscillations are observed in the photoconductivity measured as a function of the photon energy. It is shown theoretically that these oscillations are associated with optical transitions between corresponding Landaulevels in the valence and conduction bands. The theoretical curves are in good agreement with experimental results.
