By means of an electrochemical peeling technique the self‐diffusion coefficients in 99.99% gold single crystals were determined at 285.9, 299.6, 321.0, 349.7, and 411.7°C. Assuming a linear dependence of log D on 1/ T the result is in this temperature range . There is no evidence for short circuiting interferences in the range of the evaluated diffusion profile depths of < 3000 Å.
